Weekend and the Stock Exchange

This weekend we were clued into a really cool bar that is hidden away behind a canal.  It has a little make shift beach where we could chill and drink beer.

It also had a great view of a canal.  Too bad the day after we found this place it started raining and hasn't stopped yet.

Luckily the inside is pretty cool too with some amazing art.

I also spent time this weekend working on my project for the trip.  I am writing a paper about how art museums try to cater towards kids.  So I went to NEMO, which is similar to the Hands-On Museum in Ann Arbor. (Basically a science museum where kids get to play.)

One thing I did not expect to see was a teen section that started with this sign.

Not only could you watch videos but it had this handy display of different sex positions.  Good thing I was taking notes for research.

The roof of NEMO is this amazing deck where you can eat and drink and even play games.  It has an amazing view of the city.

On the way home we discovered the library.  I fell in love right away.  Plus there are no homeless people there.  It was kind of strange.

This is the children's section.  I would have killed for a place like this when I was a kid.

On the music floor they have these little desk pods where you can study.  I think I found where I am going to research my paper.

On Wednesday we visited the old stock exchange.  The building is now used for concerts.  Ironically the guy who built this building was a socialist.

He thought that the world would be capitalist for only a short time then everyone would become socialists and take care of each other.  How quaint.

After the stock exchange we found an "American" diner called American Diner.  As we walked in they were playing Salt-N-Pepa's "Push It".  I knew we would have to eat here.  I even got ice in my drink. (But still no free refills or water.  I miss that.)
